8 Essentials for A Minimalist Diaper Bag

See: planning crazy.BUT, when I first had Maddie, getting out of the house was like packing for a three day weekend.  The diaper bag backpack was fully locked and loaded with anything and everything we could possibly need during the hour-long trip to Target.Then I got tired of always wearing a backpack like a camp counselor.  And I realized that the 0-3 month clothes were still sitting in the backpack when she was 6 months old, sooooo we obviously weren't using them.  I decided to downsize and realized that I actually only needed a few essentials.  I narrowed things down to a small bag that I can just toss in my purse or even leave in the car!

What's always in the bag:

Wet/Dry Bag (To hold everything and in case of dirty clothes or diapers - these come in a pack of 2 for $10.99!  I love that it has two sections too, so I can keep diaper stuff separate from toys and placemats.  I also used these for pumping parts when I was nursing!  They are obviously my fave.)

4-5 diapersTravel Baby Wipes (These little dispensers are refillable)Changing Mat (I use the one that came with my diaper bag, but the one linked here would be perf.)Disinfecting Wipes (I'm not a SUPER germaphobe, but Maddie puts her mouth on everything right now, so I give things that look grimy a swipe.)Sticky Disposable Placemats (Ultimate mom find.  These things are awesome.)Wipeable/Plastic Toy (Like blocks - something easy to wipe off if it falls on the dirty restaurant floor!)Go-To Snack (These are the best - great for distraction and they do have some nutritional value, so I'll take it.)

What I keep in the car:

I do keep a change of clothes and a blanket for her in the car, but so far, I haven't ever had to use the clothes.  I'm sure that public blowout is coming though ha.

What I throw in on the way out:

When we're headed out, I just throw in a bottle and formula and whatever other food she needs while we're out!  Pretty easy!  Now, I suppose I could just have all of these things in a diaper bag too, but this seems so much more minimal and easier to manage.  I don't really need 3 blankets, 6 toys, gloves, sunglasses, diaper rash cream and 42 diapers, and I find that bigger bags tend to get filled, even if you don't really need everything inside.I hope this helps! Did I leave out any of your must haves?  Let me know in the comments below!(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
